Kesner Journal Staff Writer POSTED October Save Print Email Read comments Post a comment Email Taste of Home event a sellout for area cooks Teresa Harrington of Berkeley Springs and Elaine Yeager of Hedgesville. The night s menu included a variety of items such as almond creme cheese bundt cake sesame pork and Italian herb and cheese crusted chicken rolls. Some of the audience members were waiting at the door by p.m. to grab seats for the show and the pre show expo which featured many local vendors. Mother daughter pair Sherry and Ericka Gilley of Martinsburg attended the show for the first time this year. Ericka Gilley who works at West Hair Studio said she heard about the event at work. I heard it was a big to do around here and I love food she said. I thought it might be something to do with my mom. Sherry Gilley said they arrived at p.m. for the p.m. show and were surprised. Now I know why people come early to get seats she said. Kristie Hadley a Nikken representative in Martinsburg said that this is her second year coming to the expo and show. The turnout is wonderful Hadley said. There are a lot of people interested in wellness. P.J. Orsini manager of Orsini s Appliance Sales and Service is a recurring sponsor of the event. He said the event provides exposure for the company. It s an opportunity to put new products out for people to see Orsini said. We re a family business and we like to get out in the neighborhood. Orsini s donated a box dishwasher and a Susan G. Komen KitchenAid Mixer as giveaways for the event. Key sponsors for the night included West Hair Salon Orsini s Appliance Sales and Service Personal Reflections Day Spa Keller Williams Realty Schaff s Home Center Inc. Weis Markets and Capitol Vein and Laser Center. Stage decorations were provided by Ginger s Floral while groceries for the cooking show were provided by Martin s and Weis grocery stores. The emcee for the evening was Monte Conner. It s been a great turnout said Heather Smith a stylist with West Hair Studio. We ve seen a lot of new faces. Pamela Camby of Martinsburg has been to the Taste of Home Cooking School every year. I was here early and there were still people running for seats Camby said. Camby was a volunteer at last year s show and said that she s learned a lot of good tips by attending the events. It s a nice ladies night out she said although some men attend each year too.
